We Shoot Wooden Bullets

This seminal installation challenges the notion of postmodern transformations in public restrooms.

This juxtaposition of a plastic trash bin against an enlarged photograph of a wooded scene destabilizes the dialectic of artifice and nature, truth and simulacrum. The bin becomes more real, while totally plastic and artificial, than the photograph from nature, which is undoubtedly digitally enhanced. What we once took as an indexical mark of nature (a photograph of it) becomes less truthful than the discard sitting in front of it.

"I truly believe that the juxtaposition of a dialectic of destabilization over against the simulacrum of an indexical mark intensifies the viewer's experience until his head explodes!"
